Global Network ( GN ) Environ is a carbon credit / environmental consulting firm with focus on CLUSTER APPROACH for controlling green house gas emission. We lend our expertise to create and monetize carbon assets. We offer services related to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI). We offer cost-effective solutions to climate change taking a cluster-based approach to getting SMEs together to introduce carbon-saving technologies/production methodologies. We then help these SME’s / consortia to sell the aggregated carbon credits in the international markets. GN Environ is promoted by Cluster Pulse : www.clusterpulse.org  & Global Network group : www.globalnetworkindia.com

Our board of advisory consists of senior technical environment specialists from several countries. We have initiated a process of technical tie up with EU and American technical environment consulting firms for projects in India.

  • Clients approach us to audit their existing energy operations to identify opportunities and assess the costs and benefits of “greening” their projects.  This can often result in real financial benefits, as energy savings bring their own rewards in terms of competitiveness, as well as creating CER’s.

  • Clients approach us with project ideas and we advise them on the UNFCCC / CDM / PDD / MOE process to be followed & on availability of carbon finance, and how best to maximise it.

In the process , we offer our clients new technology ideas, introduce clean technologies and transfer best practices from one country to another.

The Kyoto protocol , a 1997 international treaty between 169 countries took effect in 2005 . It currently binds ratifying nations to a similar system, with the UNFCCC setting caps for each nation. Under the treaty, nations that emit less than their quota of greenhouse gases will be able to sell emissions credits to polluting nations thereby mitigating global warming.

Carbon credits are certificates awarded to companies that are successful in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. For trading purposes, one credit is considered equivalent to one tonne of CO2 emissions. Such a credit can be sold in the international market at the prevailing market price. There are two exchanges for carbon credits: the Chicago climate exchange and the European climate exchange.

Carbon emissions trading has been steadily increasing in recent years. According to the World Bank's Carbon Finance Unit, 374 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) were exchanged through projects in 2005, a 240% increase relative to 2004 (110 mtCO2e) which was itself a 41% increase relative to 2003 (78 mtCO2e).

GN Environ encashes on the rich & practical experience of its promoter firm , Cluster Pulse ( CP ) which used the methodology of SME consortia in clusters for exports. This methodology was successfully used by CP in 9 countries , motivating the creation of 63 SME export consortia , in 40 clusters. A similar model is being used by GN Environ , for aggregation of carbon credits from SME clusters. This is the USP of GN Environ.

We propose to work in SME clusters by creating consortia & then aggregating the carbon credits under our consortia methodology. We propose to start work in 5 clusters :

Foundries    Textiles    Engineering    Dyes & Chemicals   Pharmaceuticals
